This major transportation/logistics firm is looking to fill positions in their engineering team. Multiple openings in both Unix SA and Java development
(1) Linux / Solaris (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)
In this role, you will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the organization's mission critical systems. Apart from your primary responsibility of maintaining the availability and reliability of the systems, you will also be required to perform activities ranging from planning for system upgrades, systems and application troubleshooting & system performance monitoring. You will also work closely with the application and other infrastructure teams to ensure a smooth delivery of projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science from a recognised institution, with at least 1-year relevant working experience
- Experience in SUN Solaris or Linux administration and scripting
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts
- Experience with Veritas suite of products and HP Non-Stop technology will be advantageous
- Strong analytical/technical skills and effective problem-solving ability
(2) JAVA Developers
Working with a team of IT professionals, you will analyze, design, develop, implement and maintain IT systems that support our business operations, customers and corporate services. In addition, you will also manage projects which may be outsourced to vendors or done internally with contractors. You will troubleshoot issues and perform day-to-day operational support for existing systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant disciplines
- At least 1 year working experience in the area of application or web development in a dynamic environment
- Familiar with UNIX processing environment and working knowledge of shell scripts and utility tools
- Experience in using PL/SQL and has worked on Oracle 8i/9i database
- Programming experience in J2EE environment, such as WebLogic, SUNOne, WebSphere, preferably with some experience in Win2000 / Win 2003 set-up
- Proficient in EJB, JSP, Servlet, Java Bean, ASP, Java2, Swing & XML, J2EE
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
