    Description

    Our client is an emerging player in the food & beverage ingredients space and as part of their rapid growth, we are hiring for a Head of Cocoa Ingredients role with APAC responsibilities, with flexibility for the role to be based anywhere in APAC for the right candidate.

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Global Head of Cocoa Ingredients based in Europe and a dotted line to the APAC Innovation Centre Head, this position will lead the development of new cocoa ingredients or technologies for the Asian market based on the business needs and in close collaboration with the factories in Asia. You will work closely with the APAC Innovation Centre, Cocoa Global Ingredient Excellence Center in Europe, Product Line Managers, Quality Department, Commercial team and provide fact-based insights and advise on the existing cocoa ingredients to optimize the current portfolio of cocoa ingredients and support decision making. This role will be the technical lead in terms of cocoa knowledge, capabilities and ensure that the team provide cocoa related innovation and solutions to customers at highest possible quality within the shortest possible time. The position oversees and supports various quality and regulatory initiatives throughout the region. Supporting the cocoa portfolio, especially focused on the cocoa powder producing plants in Asia.

    Requirements 

    You should have a MSc or PhD degree in Food Technology or Food Chemistry. MBA or equivalent commercial qualification would be desirable. Proven capability in a similar senior leadership role in Product Development/R&D in B2B or B2C in the cocoa or chocolate industry with a minimum of 13 to 17 years of experience. Additional experience in the bakery industry is a plus. We are seeking for an expert in ingredient functionality and have a track record working on complex food systems. Proficient to transform ideas into bespoke and solution driven concepts. Master the food development process inside-out from customer inspiration to winning customer projects. Excellent understanding in ingredient functionality, great tasting product development, analytical methodologies and sensory science is best-in-class. Entrepreneurial and able to inspire the team to go the extra mile combining intelligence, agility, creativity and a “can do” mentality. Shares a passion for innovative ingredients, food or beverage products and technologies in the beverage, dairy and ice category. Excellent communication and social skills. Listens well. Fun to work with and open minded.
