Our client is a listed Specialty Chemicals Company, and am looking to hire a Sales & Marketing Director to be based in their Asia HQ in Singapore to manage their Personal Care Business Unit across Asia Pacific region.
Reporting to the Global Head of Sales for Personal Care BU, the key focus of this role is to ensure the delivery of the annual sales and margin targets for the BU across the defined geography of Asia Pacific (including China and India). You will develop, agree, communicate, implement, and review the global business strategy (3-5 years) for the market sector in the region. Decisions & judgements are taken in an environment of incomplete market, economic, social and political data. The position have accountability for all sales & marketing activities for the relevant market sector, which will require you to define, agree and implement commercial policies for pricing, product range, target markets, route-to-market, and promotional activities. You will be required to develop senior level contacts within key customers and suppliers, while providing broader strategy input into business direction and activity including structure, operation, alliances and M&A opportunities. The role will be required to provide line management leadership, coaching and motivation to a team, many of whom may be located remotely. You will need to develop capability plans, succession planning, mentoring and performance management of a cross cultural team to maximise sustainable individual and business performance. You will also be expected to champion all efforts for the relevant market sector at many organisational levels internally and externally in the marketplace. Encourage and build in-depth detailed knowledge for relevant market sectors to provide overall commercial understanding and challenge.
You will have a Degree level education in a technical or business discipline, with further business qualification or experience an advantage (eg MBA, Post Grad Diploma). Deep knowledge in the specialty ingredients segment for the Beauty and Personal Care industries is a must, with the right hire having strong exposure across the major countries in Asia Pacific (China, India, Indonesia, Korea and Japan etc). You should be a results and delivery focused individual with strong communication and motivational capabilities. Strong commercial and strategic accumen is a requirement, along with good understanding of customer and competitor interactions. Ability to deliver effective business relations at all levels, internally and externally as well as a good understanding of the industry & market trends, are the key traits we are looking for. Strong cross cultural sensitivity and good people management credentials, self motivated with the ability to cope with stress/pressure and good prioritisation and organisational skills will sum up what we require in this position. The role is regional in scope but forms part of a global sales and marketing leadership network. Some evening meetings will be required to enable discussions with teams from other regions.
