Business Development (‘BD’) Manager – Oil and petrochemicals supply and trading company

This is the supply and trading arm of an established and sizeable energy corporation. With a global presence in over 20 countries, Singapore serves as its Asia Pacific hub. Due to a reshuffle of portfolios within the team, an opportunity has arisen with the trading division to hire a dynamic and ambitious individual as its Business Development (‘BD’) Manager, reporting directly to the Trading Origination and Business Development for Asia Pacific.
The BD manager will be part of a team that will be identifying, developing and originating new business ventures, strategic partnerships for the Group’s energy trading products (across the barrel) in Asia Pacific. He/ She will be identifying and developing mid to long term investment, supply, and structured trade finance deals in targeted countries within Asia Pacific region. This entails the use of commercial analysis, synthesizing market intelligence and leads. He/ She will also establish and develop the senior client relations and build business case for selected projects. The manager will also generate and negotiate commercial proposals in order to close contracts with oil majors, traders and chemicals producers. Subsequently, the manager is to perform investment analysis and seek management approval for selected projects, and manage the initial phase of the new projects. This role will require up to 50% travel, dependent on the deals you manage.
The successful candidate will possess a tertiary degree within a finance discipline, with 10-15 years of work experience in oil and petrochemical industries especially in downstream asset operations and/ or supply business. Deal sourcing experience within Oil & Gas will be highly advantageous. You will also possess strong market analysis and networking skills. Due to the geographical focus of the Singapore office, only candidates with proven Asian experience will be considered.
