This is an Energy conglomerate, with Singapore as its Asia Pacific Headquarters. With its diversified business interests across the energy value chain including power, utilities, renewables. Due to succession planning reasons, an opportunity has arisen for a Head of Tax to oversee tax advisory and compliance services to the Company’s business units in Asia, including Southeast Asia and China.
Reporting to the CFO for Asia Pacific, the Head of Tax will play a key role in tax advisory strategies and partner the commercial business units at a corporate and regional level in Asia. He/ She will also proactively manage the relationships with local authorities and agencies, including local tax incentives. The Head of Tax will also own the relationships with external consulting firms and stakeholders (such as tax offices) within the Asia Pacific region.
The successful candidate will be a degree holder in an accounting or business discipline, with a minimum of 15 years’ tax experience working as a tax professional within industry or commerce. Tax experience within heavy B2B industries with a complex M&A, international tax focus will be preferred. You will also have a broad base advisory exposure in the areas including transfer pricing, indirect tax, permanent establishment. You will also possess the ability to identify local, cross border tax planning opportunities and applying for tax incentives. You will also have proven abilities to negotiate tax issues with the tax authorities as well as to engage with a diverse range of senior stakeholders. You will also be able to communicate complex tax issues in a laymen manner to non-tax professionals within the Company. Due to the need to engage with significant internal and external stakeholders in China, proficiency in Mandarin will be essential.
