Our client is the global headquarters for a commodities trading arm at one of the world’s largest Japanese multinational conglomerates. The Singapore office plays an integral role in driving business needs and housing top talent within the organisation. An exciting new role has now opened up in their team for a talented and meticulous individual to join them in delivering a world-class employee experience for their family of young, energetic staff.

This role reports directly to the trading arm’s Global Head of HR based in Singapore. The incumbent will liaise closely with the team in Japan to align HR policies between both countries, and oversee a range of HR operations including expatriate management, talent management and compensation & benefits. As the point of contact for the company’s team of Japanese expatriates living in Singapore, you will also build strong bonds with their families and be a trusted advisor to them during their stay here. They will look to you for relocation advice to and fro Japan inclusive of visa status, coordinating of living arrangements, and tax advisory. This role will definitely be an enriching experience if you’re looking to strengthen your HR generalist skill-set, and build strong relational bonds with a vibrant and diverse employee population.

You have at least 3 years of HR experience with a focus in expatriate management or global mobility. You must be well-versed in Japanese labour and employment laws; hence prior experience at a Japanese MNC would be advantageous. You are personable and communicate well with diverse groups of people. The act of building strong bonds with people comes naturally and energizes you. Due to regular interactions with the HQ in Japan, and with the local Japanese expatriate population, strong proficiency in spoken and written Japanese is also required.
