Our client is a regional energy and commodity trading firm headquartered in Asia. Over the last 2 years, they have been rapidly expanding here in Singapore and they continue to look at expanding the legal team in Singapore as part of their Asia growth plan.

Responsibilities

This will be an exciting opportunity for the legal counsel to come onboard to help manage the legal risk for the organization. As part of the legal team, the individual will be providing advice on a wide range of commercial agreements. The agreements will cover both upstream and downstream of the commodity value chain. Some agreements will include Sales and Purchase, Shipping related and ISDA Master Agreements on the commodity derivatives. You will be involve in the drafting and the negotiating of these agreements and working with various internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth transaction.

Requirements

In order to succeed in this role, you should have at least 5 years of working experience in a commodity trading/oil & gas environment. You should ideally be called to the Singapore bar. As the role covers North Asia, mandarin speaking and reading capabilities will be an advantage. You should also be a self-starter and independent learner.
