    Research Strategist for Power Market (APAC), Oil Major

     

    This is an excellent opportunity to join an Oil Major seeking for a Power Market Research Strategist to provide market research and colour of Gas, LNG, Power Emissions and NGL markets traded by the firm. You are to contribute in the interpretation, advisory and support to the Gas & Power Trading desk, aiding in their trading strategies and investment decisions.

     

    Responsibilities

      

    Working closely with the traders and other stakeholders of the company, your role is to identify opportunities through the use of data to help traders take positions in the market and capture new business opportunities strategically. The coverage of this position is for the Japanese and Australian Power markets.

     

    You are to develop and maintain models to analyse the APAC power market and fundamental data, collaborate with other members of the team (i.e. IT,data scientist, Gas and other regional analyst) to improve the APAC power analytics team and develop a market view to produce trading recommendation and price forecast to lead discussions with trading desk and senior management.

     

    Requirements

     

    You have excellent modelling and analytical skills with at least 3-5 years of experience in an analytical  or quantitative function, with good knowledge of APAC power markets (Australia and Japan ideally). Programming skills (SQL/R/Python) with good familiarity in visualization frameworks (Tableau/PowerBI/etc.) are preferred and some travelling may be required. This role is based in Singapore.
