    Description

    We are currently partnering with a global leader in formulated coatings (pharmaceutical application) who is setting up a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia, to hire for a Site Leader position. The company has multiple manufacturing sites and R&D centres around the world, and this will be an exciting opportunity to be part of the greenfield project where you will be fully involved in the build of the facility and the subsequent production ramp-up of its operations. This will include project management and supporting the recruitment process of over 50 headcounts for this site.

    Once the plant is ready, you will be taking on the role as Head of Operations, and be responsible for managing the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, EHS, Process Excellence & Quality departments. The new site will represent ‘Best in Class’ in building and processes. It will speed up business growth and enhance the company’s Business Continuity Plan. The site is also designed to strengthen local service to improve customer experience and ultimately shorten Lead Time.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees the building construction and readiness of the plant to ensure it is fully operational.
    • Oversees all aspects of manufacturing, quality, safety & process excellence, including harmonizing best practices, managing the Lean/6 Sigma process, and quality systems support. Responsible for the leadership and implementation of continuous improvement and lean programs.
    • Is responsible for developing staff through management objectives & the company’s operating principles.
    • Establishes meaningful KPI’s to evaluate plant capacity & productivity.
    • Responsible for ensuring capacity & resources are in place ahead of demand.
    • Oversees activities related to facilities, capital planning, procurement, production, storage and handling, maintenance, quality control laboratory, quality assurance, workforce hiring/firing decisions, development of personnel, and mentoring of employees.
    • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as pharmaceutical excipient current good manufacturing & laboratory practices.
    • Oversees all phases of the product manufacturing, quality control, and delivery process.
    • Supports the business Customer Focus objective by occasionally traveling to customer sites and participating in customer on-site quality audits.
    • Establish and maintain relevant operational and safety metrics for continuous improvement.
    • Design and execute special projects and experiments for process enhancement.
    • Prepares/supports plant budgets, production plans, and workforce development plans.
    • Responsible for overall security and safety for the site and all personnel.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific or Engineering field required
    • Minimum 15 years of manufacturing experience, with a previous involvement in greenfield projects a real plus.
    • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP), laboratory operations, modern safety programs (behaviour-based safety), and pharmaceutical experience are preferred. Industry experience across Medical Devices, Food & Nutrition with relevant site leadership experiences are also welcomed to apply.
    • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills and demonstrated leadership qualities.
    • Lean & Six Sigma experience preferred.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with Oracle a plus.
