We generally recommend a “Selection” rather than a “Search” approach to a given recruitment exercise, where a number of factors exist, including:
- Relatively large and dispersed candidate population
- Limited “confidentiality” concerns
- Time sensitive situations
- Desire to induce an “approach” from an individual rather than actively “headhunting”
In general, these criteria occur more often when looking at middle rather than senior management positions but this is by no means always the case.
